The authors wrote this chapter in Caring for Latinxs with Dementia in a Globalized WorldAs the population ages and life expectancy continues to increase, the United States (U.S.) will experience an increase in the population diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD). The increased representation of racial ethnic minority populations among the population aged 65 and older will mean these populations will be more likely than they have in the past to be diagnosed with dementia. This is especially true for Latinos, the fastest growing population among the older adult population. The prevalence of ADRD is growing rapidly among Latinos, and this trend is expected to continue. The growing number of Latinos with dementia will increase the population requiring long-term care services and the number of Latino families becoming caregivers. Authors examine policy options that meet the needs of Latino with dementia, reduce risk factors for ADRD among Latinos, as well as empower Latino family caregivers.
